Review : Disco Raja – Sheer energy levels as expected from Mass Maharaja
Mass Maharaja Teja has teamed up with Vi Anand this time around. Payal Rajput, Nabha Natesh, Bobby Simha starring ‘Disco Raja’ hit the screens today, promising to tell a sci-fi tale. The teasers hint at the film telling the story of a music-loving gangster who suffers from Post War Stress Disorder. While nothing much about the story is known, as everything has been carefully kept under wraps, fans of the actors and director are excited to catch the spectacle on-screen.
Story: –
In Ladakh, Vasu (Ravi Teja) is trapped in the snow and taken to a research center. There, it is found that he is brain dead. However, Vasu has no memory of the past. At the same time it is also known about Discoraja (Ravi Teja). What is the connection between Vasu and Disco Raja? Who killed Vasu and fell in the snowy hills of Ladakh? All these questions to be answered on big screen.
Analysis:-
There is no doubt that the director VI Anand has shown what the audience is expecting from Ravi Teja.
But in its entirety, this is not a social fantasy film. The concept of surviving a dead person is new. Even though many have shown it in the past, it looks even intriguing. There is no doubt that the concept is good. However, the film is capable of appealing to Ravi Teja fans as well as everyone else.
Disco Raja is a science fiction based action movie. Ravi Teja fits the bill and his role has multiple layers. Plus points of the film Disco Raja are Ravi Teja’ characterization, energy levels, action episode, and entertainment. On the flip side, the story is routine.
The director did set up the first half very well with a sci-fi layer but later took the film into a run of the mill revenge drama of the 1980s. In an attempt to light up the scenes, the director’s choice of forced comedy did not farewell. A better narration and improved screenplay could have made this sci-fi revenge drama a bit more worthy.
Too many twists and ample surprises make you feel worn out at the end.
Performances: –
Raviteja never goes overboard; he was in his shoes without any deviation. He gives his hundred percent, and the effortless energy is visible all the time. The only difference with Disco Raja is the new setting and get-up given to the actor with a renewed swag. Ravi Teja steals the show as usual. There is absolutely nothing to complain, but at the same time, nothing makes one go wow as an audience leaving aside the fans who should find the ‘swag’ more than enough.
Nabha Natesh and Payal Rajput still manage to impress due to their visually appealing presentation in a couple of songs. Among all the crew, Bobby Simha has a big part. He does all he can within the scope provided to him. Unfortunately, there is not enough meat to rise above the given material. Sunil plays his usual comedic part seen in his comeback trail. Vennela Kishore stands out among rest of the comedians. He is in terrific form, and that helps in making the routine come across as decent.
Technical: –
Karthik Ghattamaneni behind the lens has shown off his skills yet again and presents the movie in an eye-relishing manner. Thaman’s music is the biggest asset of the film, and the BGM takes the movie to a new level when required. With a couple of chartbusters. The production values are top-notched, and the artwork in the film deserves special mention.

Verdict: – Overall, the film is lived up to the sheer expectations one would expect from Mass Maharaja. Not only would his fans, anyone else enjoy this film. Ravi Teja steals the show.
